Advanced Master in Management of Information Systems and Telecommunication Networks: Program

The Advanced Master’s in Management of Information Systems and Telecommunication Networks alternates theory with professional practice. Analysis of participants’ professional experiences helps them improve skills in managing the complex social and technical aspects of distributed information systems. Seventy days of classes are organized over a two-year period, with two days of courses every other week and one full week per quarter. A work-study option is available through internship or apprenticeship. Courses are given at ESSEC and TELECOM ParisTech in IS life cycles, technical and logical IS architectures and project management.

A work-study program

Designed for students at the start of their careers as well as managers already working, the Master’s degree is prepared simultaneously with a position defined by an internship contract, an apprenticeship contract, a fixed-term contract, or a permanent contract in the context of continuing education. The work-study format is an ideal opportunity to analyze students’ professional experience with the help of the theories presented in class.

Classes that cover all the subjects

Information system management science is a vast and complex field. The Master’s covers all the subjects. Courses are given at both the ESSEC and TELECOM ParisTech campuses in three main areas: IS life cycles, technical and logical IS architectures, and the scope of the intervention. Emphasis is laid on concepts and methods as opposed to products that become rapidly obsolete. A personal development course is also planned.

A professional thesis based on experience acquired during the Master’s program

The professional thesis concludes the work-study program, and contributes both to the assessment process as well as the synthesis between professional experience and the academic subjects assimilated. Students also develop special expertise in a subject of particular interest. The thesis is similar to reports produced by outside consultants, and can be based on experience in France or another country.

Each student receives support and advice in defining professional goals, benefiting from the  Corporate / Student Relations Service for the Advanced Master’s Programs
