Advanced Master in International Supply Management: An alumnus speaks out

The programs at the ESSEC Business School
A testimony to our students’ success reveals the motivation and career choices of Ronan Henry, Class of 1995 in the ESSEC Advanced Master in International Supply Management, who is currently a buyer for Hewlett-Packard. The program allowed him to combine various interests and experiences in marketing and international trade, his initial studies and internships, making it possible for him to understand procurement, the markets and internationalization.

“An opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge of a profession which is on the front line of corporate strategies”

Ronan Henry, a graduate of the Rouen Ecole Supérieure de Commerce and the ESSEC Advanced Master in International Supply Management (Class of 1995) is currently a buyer for Hewlett-Packard. He discusses his motivation and career choices.

What did you gain from the ESSEC Advanced Master in International Supply Management?

"First of all, the Master’s enabled me to merge different knowledge. My interest in marketing and international trade, my initial studies and various internships in France and abroad taught me to understand the two basic aspects of the procurement function: knowledge of markets and internationalization. The Master’s enabled me to combine these various experiences and to gain more in-depth knowledge of a profession which is on the front line of corporate strategies."

And then?

"This program opened the doors to an international corporation, Hewlett-Packard, which is developing production of added value through an outsourcing policy with non-strategic group suppliers."

What is your evaluation of the situation today?

"Definition of long-term supplier strategies is a way to perpetuate supply sources, both in terms of quality and service, while implementing cost management with suppliers. Developing my skills and knowledge through the Master’s program enabled me to participate in implementing these strategies and to develop efficient supplier management."
