Advanced Master in Strategy and Management of International Business: program



The Advanced Master in Strategy and Management of International Business is a general program focused on international management. It is designed as a multidisciplinary experience where management and managerial skills are the two essential dimensions to lead students to top executive positions with international scope. Courses cover international development, project management, marketing, finance, accounting and personal development. Students must complete a company internship and write a professional thesis.

Courses


80% of the courses are optional to allow for individually adapted programs and refined career goals. Courses are held from end August to end March/April/August, depending on the tracks and cover six major areas.

A choice of 9 tracks
A full time program in one year


We now propose NINE different tracks

Mixed track: 7 months of courses at ESSEC Cergy (from September to end March) and a study tour outside of France. 50% of courses in English and 50% in French.

English language track: 7 months of courses at ESSEC Cergy (from September to end March) and a study tour outside of France. Curriculum entirely in English.

American track: courses divided between ESSEC Cergy (4 months of courses at ESSEC from September to end December) and courses at Thunderbird School of Global Management, Phoenix, USA, from January to end April.

Canadian track: courses divided between ESSEC Cergy (4 months of courses at ESSEC from September to end December) and courses at Queen’s School of Business, Ontario, Canada, from January to end April.

50 % Asian track – Winter session: courses divided between ESSEC Cergy (4 months of courses from September to end December) and courses at ESSEC Singapore Campus, Singapore (4 months from January to end April). Plus a study tour outside of Singapore.

50 % Asian track – Fall session: courses divided between ESSEC Singapore (4 months of courses at ESSEC Singapore Campus from September to end December) and courses at ESSEC Cergy from January to March. Plus a study tour outside of France.

100% Asian track: 8 months in Singapore at ESSEC Singapore Campus and at Nanyang Technological University. Plus a study tour outside of Singapore.

Latin American track (A) - MS SIAI/AM SMIB degree: courses divided between ESSEC Cergy (4 months of courses at ESSEC from September to end December) and courses at EGADE, Tec de Monterrey in Mexico, from January to end March.

Latin American track (B) - Double Degree Program: students obtain ESSEC MS SIAI/ AM SMIB degree and Master in Marketing Management degree from EGADE, Tec de Monterrey in Mexico: 7 months of courses at ESSEC Cergy (from September to end March) and courses at EGADE, from April to end November.


In all cases:
In the first semester, from September to December, all students follow the courses on the ESSEC Campus either in Cergy or in Singapore according to the track of admission.

In the second semester, from January onwards, students either continue to follow the courses in Cergy, France, or switch to one of the other tracks.

     - 100% Asian track students stay in Singapore for the winter session.
     - The students who were in Singapore from September to December (50% Asian track-Fall session) can either go to Cergy (English or Mixed track) or switch to another track (except 100% Asian track) but cannot stay in Singapore for the winter session.

On top of the academic and practical training, the AM SMIB allows you to participate in a study trip abroad every year. This 5 to 10 day trip in February-March aims to enable you to meet and exchange views and knowledge with several major international and local companies in the country visited.Topics covered during the study tour outside France include how to enter a foreign market, available aid, opportunities, and threats or risks.

A company internship and a professional thesis


All Master’s students complete a 4 to 6-month company internship (between April and end September), in France or elsewhere, followed by a professional thesis that must combine a conceptual approach with the operational implementation of a project that meets a concrete need in the company.
