Education

Felix Papier is associate professor for supply chain management at the ESSEC Business School. His research and teaching focuses on supply chain and operations strategy, information sharing in supply chains, inventory and capacity planning, and sustainable operations. He is currently the Academic Director of the ESSEC & Mannheim Executive MBA and the coordinator of the Operations Management Track in the ESSEC Grande Ecole program.

He has published in several academic and professional journals such as Operations Research, Transportation Science, OMEGA, OR Letters, and Harvard Business Review Germany and presented his research at international conferences in Europe, Asia, and the United States (INFORMS, EURO/IFORS, MSOM, POMS). In 2006, he visited the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology as a Research Scholar. In 2001, he completed part of his graduate studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Before joining ESSEC, he worked for several years as a strategy and operations management consultant for McKinsey & Company. He has performed numerous assignments in strategy formulation, purchasing management, and supply chain management, serving international clients from the automotive, pharmaceutical, and agricultural industries.

My research topics focus on supply chain strategy, information and forecast sharing in supply chains, capacity planning for rental companies, inventory and revenue management, and energy management in manufacturing and operations

My research methods are stochastic modeling (Markov decision processes), behavioral operations research, and game theory
