Why support the Development Campaign?

Laurence Berman Clément (E86), Managing Director of Jet Tours, feels that ESSEC Alumni need to be more assertive in supporting their School. Backing the Development Campaign is a way of showing their pride in what the School has given them.

Why are you supporting the Development Campaign as an individual?

"I want to support the Development Campaign, along with my husband, (Thierry Berman, ESSEC 83), in recognition of the education we received at ESSEC. This experience was a formidable career accelerator for us professionally. It is the reason for our support."

As an Alumna of ESSEC, and also the University of Chicago, how do you see the implication of ESSEC graduates in their School?

"I am delighted with the idea of a Development Campaign for ESSEC, because when all is said and done, my perception is that our graduates are insufficiently implicated in ESSEC’s future. Having graduated from ESSEC is one thing; being proud of that is a first step, helping to perpetuate this pride is a second step that I hope many alumni will take."

On the other hand, what are your expectations of the School today?

"That ESSEC should continue to set up links to other international schools and universities, because in the future this will be a distinguishing and essential criterion for top-level schools. At the same time, the School must modernize ifs infrastructure to provide students the best services and facilities. Last, it should have even closer links with the graduates (class anniversaries, news in the alumni magazine, Reflets, for example)."
