Scholarships

ESSEC offers companies the opportunity to boost their international recruitment practices by supporting scholarship programs that enable young international students of recognized excellence but with relatively limited finances to carry out their studies in Europe, benefit from the experience of two different cultures, and receive a top-level management education.

Since 2002, Lafarge, Renault Samsung Motors, L’Oréal, Accor and Thales / The Foreign Affairs Ministry have each set up partnership schemes with ESSEC. Subject to specific financial criteria, certain French and international students may also benefit from scholarships via the ESSEC Solidarity Fund, supported by the generous donations of ESSEC alumni.

The Lafarge China scholarship program

Five Chinese students per year prepare a dual degree with the Guanghua School of Management in Beijing, their university of origin, and ESSEC, where they spend a year. The students follow their courses in English, and the scholarships cover tuition and expenses. The objective for Lafarge China is to recruit future managers with a dual culture. Students sign a separate agreement with the company that stipulates hiring conditions after graduation.

This scheme, officially known as THALES Academia, comprises financial support for its recipients, as well as tutoring by professionals from the THALES Group.
In 2006-07, an initial class of 21 students from India and China was selected, in partnership with certain engineering and management schools. Two Indian students at ESSEC following the Specialized Master’s in Strategy and Management of International Business benefited from this scheme.
