A Chinese student at Cergy

Jue Xu was 26 in 2004. He comes from Jiangxi province in southern China. In September 2004 he joined the ESSEC MBA program to prepare a dual degree with the Guanghua School of Management. He has been awarded a Lafarge scholarship.

Rigorous selection

“I learned about the Lafarge scholarship program from two students who completed the dual degree last year. When I was selected by ESSEC, Lafarge contacted me. The whole process was like getting a job. First they identified the types of positions and departments I could apply for given my past career, my centers of interest, my personality, and so forth. Then, I had several interviews and finally Lafarge offered the best solution for my future job.”

In-training supervision

“I’m in regular contact with Lafarge China. I receive support for my courses from their Human Resources department. During our visit to the Parisian headquarters last December, one of the Chinese Human Resources managers acted as our guide to one of the previous grant-holders and myself.”

A shared investment

“I expect Lafarge to help me combine my technical and sales know-how in the light of my career development. The group is a highly respected multinational company with a rapid strategic development in China. I think that Lafarge expects me to combine these technological, commercial, and managerial skills to support its business development in China.”
