Departments

A department groups together professors who share complementary expertise in their discipline. Instruction and curriculum are developed and coordinated for all ESSEC programs in these departments under the management of the department head, who is chosen by his or her colleagues. ESSEC currently has eight departments.


Feedback meeting

The Finance Department is organising an informal meeting in order to get your feedback about the finance track and its activities on Tuesday May 22nd at 5:00 pm in room N231 (in the Nautile). After the meeting you will have the opportunity to share a drink with the professors of the department and also interact with them.

Research at the Finance Department

The department’s research activity focuses on 11 key areas of finance: financial derivatives, risk management, commodities, portfolio theory, macro-finance, market microstructure, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate governance, bankruptcy, liquidation and reorganization and real estate.


Finance Seminar series

The department organizes seminars on a regular basis, in collaboration with the ESSEC Research Center. Our guest speakers present, analyze, and discuss the most recent theoretical and empirical developments in Finance research.

Academic conferences and workshops

  • CALL FOR PAPERS - SMU-ESSEC Symposium on Empirical Finance and Financial Econometrics, Singapore, June 8-9, 2011
    The Centre for Financial Econometrics (CoFiE) of Sim Kee Boon Institute (SKBI) for Financial Economics at Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Department of Finance at ESSEC Business School jointly organize the SMU-ESSEC Symposium on Empirical Finance and Financial Econometrics on June 8-9, 2011 in Singapore. The purpose of the conference is to promote research in empirical finance and financial econometrics in Asia and Europe. Complete papers (with title, abstract and full text) must be submitted by February 15, 2011. Complete information on the conference is available at the conference website.
  • The 2010 ESSEC-HEC-INSEAD-PSE Workshop on Financial Economics
    The workshop was hosted by the ESSEC Finance Department.

  • The ESSEC Private Equity Second Annual Conference
    The conference was organized by the ESSEC Private Equity Chair on June 10 and 11, 2010.
    The event presented state-of-the-art international research on major issues regarding, and related to, Private Equity and Venture Capital.

The Finance Alumni Development Grant (FADeG)

October 2010: the Finance Department is very proud and very pleased to launch the Finance Alumni Development Grant (FADeG), initiated by Olivier Stephanopoli (E86) within the scope of ESSEC Development Campaign.
The FADeG is built on the generous help of ESSEC Alumni, interested in the development of the ESSEC Finance department, the first of them being: Marie Schallier, François Auvillain, Didier Genet, Jean-Marc Xuereb and Olivier Stephanopoli.
The fund is dedicated to enhance and support the visibility, the research activity, the academic life of the ESSEC Finance Department, and the interactions with ESSEC alumni.
