A department groups together professors who share complementary expertise in their discipline. Instruction and curriculum are developed and coordinated for all ESSEC programs in these departments under the management of the department head, who is chosen by his or her colleagues. ESSEC currently has eight departments.

Focused on modeling, management and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, the department’s activities are clustered into three areas:
• Information systems,
• Data modeling and
• Scientific management methods and decision sciences.
The department conducts high-level academic research. Its members belong to international research networks and are affiliated with many different universities.
In addition to its educational mission, the department analyzes empirical issues and provides practical advice from both academic and business perspectives.
The department has 15 full-time faculty and 28 part-time lecturers.
