The quest to develop new managerial knowledge is written in ESSEC’s genes. Besides training managers and supporting business, research represents one of the three fundamental pillars of our mission: to improve organization management by producing and sharing knowledge, concepts and methods that meet 21st century challenges.

ESSEC’s reputation as a leader in knowledge creation is grounded in the expertise of its 141 dedicated faculty members. Representing some 29 nationalities, ESSEC Professors hail from some of the world’s most prestigious institutions and publish their cutting edge research in the world’s best international academic journals.

ESSEC faculty members include 141 permanent professors as well as 13 emeritus professors. 44% of our faculty body is international and represents 29 nationalities. Sharing knowledge at 3 campuses, within 8 academic departments and 19 teaching and research chairs, ESSEC faculty in 2012 published some 93 academic papers and books.

World-class Research

ESSEC’s reputation for excellence in research has afforded the school a leading role on the world scene for the creation of new management ideas, approaches and concepts. Year after year, ESSEC faculty produce research published in some of the world’s best academic journals. Supported by the ESSEC Research Centre, research at ESSEC mobilizes some 210 faculty, research staff and PhD students.

Beyond its contribution to knowledge creation, research has other virtues: keeping faculty staff at the cutting edge of management thinking is reflected in the excellence of the teaching delivered to students and managers. ESSEC enjoys constant recognition in surveys, rankings and bibliometric measurements where it always features among the top three French higher education institutions.
