A successful first annual ESSEC "Alumni in Luxury" event

Thursday, April 26th 7pm, ESSEC Business School had the pleasure of organizing its first conference dedicated to all ESSEC Alumni in the Luxury Industry.

More than 120 alumni from the ESSEC LVMH Chair, MBA in International Luxury Brand Management, and Club Luxe ESSEC gathered at the Maison des Arts et Métiers in Paris to mingle and to attend a presentation by founder and CEO Philippe Benacin (ESSEC Alumnus 1983) on the ‘Success Story’ of Interparfums. Established in 1982, Interparfums initially focused on the mass-market perfume industry before orienting itself toward the high-end fragrance niche at the beginning of the 90s.
The portfolio of this company, which creates, manufactures, and distributes high-end fragrances on the basis of closed license agreements with major luxury brands, now includes Boucheron, Burberry, Balmain, Van Cleef & Arpels, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, Montblanc, and Paul Smith, among others.

The aim of this event was to gather together ESSEC’s talented alumni across many generations, to give them the opportunity to learn about the exceptional career path of Philippe Benacin and allow them to develop their network of connections through their alma mater.
For Sonja Prokopec, the LVMH Chaired Professor of Luxury Brand Management, “the expertise of ESSEC and its graduates in the luxury sector is undeniable. Nearly a thousand alumni have graduated from the LVMH Chair and the MBA in International Luxury Brand Management programs, many of whom play a significant role within the luxury industry today. Allowing our alumni to interact and to collaborate is essential to strengthening the ESSEC luxury alumni family.”

According to Simon Nyeck, the Academic Director of the MBA in International Luxury Brand Management, the success of this first gathering of ESSEC’s ‘extended luxury family’ has established a solid foundation for future initiatives and events in the sector.
