Michel Baroni, Associate Professor within ESSEC’s Finance Department and Academic Director of the Specialized Master’s in Financial Techniques and Insurance-Finance, received a rare honor in February when he was elected “Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors” (RICS).
This title is conferred in recognition of the ability and contribution of professionals or academics to Real Estate vocations.
The RICS is a British-based institution currently comprising 136 000 chartered surveyors across 120 countries, and acts as a privileged source of information for its members on matters concerning town planning, real estate, construction, and the environment.
It also offers an accreditation scheme with a view to maintaining the highest possible levels in related education programs and enabling students to achieve official chartered surveyor status.
ESSEC offers 2 of the 7 programs in France to have received this illustrious accreditation: the Master’s in Real Estate Management and the Specialized Master’s in Urban, Environmental, and Services Management.
Michel Baroni, whose main areas of research concern real estate risk evaluation and real estate indices in the real estate investment sector, is also a member of the Continental Europe Standards Board of RICS, which is in charge of setting accreditation standards for diplomas within Europe (outside of the United Kingdom) and applying accreditation procedure for teaching programs.
