ESSEC’s commitment to student-run business projects has been very much in the foreground in recent months. Of the 17 start-ups hosted by the ESSEC Ventures incubator, 6 have recently received national recognition, with the possibility of success at world level to come.
One such venture is Inoveum, which emerged as winner of their category of the “Petit Poucet” awards for their on-line CV creation and management service in January, just 6 months after its creation. The initiative of Jérôme Calot and Guillaume Limare, this web service enables its users to simultaneously create and view their CV on-line via a number of model designs and page lay-outs that can be personalized according to the needs of each user.

On March 15 it was the turn of Synthesio, to receive recognition at the “Graines de Boss” awards ceremony held at the French Senate and organized by the national television channel M6.
Thibault Hanin (E05) and Loïc Moisand (E05) are the creative forces behind this specialist news search engine available for all web users at international level.
The service offers multi-criteria research of the on-line media and currently comprises over 7 million articles worlwide. Synthesio will be entered for the Centenary special “Tremplin Entreprises” competition to be held in early July.

Further success came on May 31-June 1 when ESSEC emerged as winners of the SIFE (“Students in Free Enterprise”) national final for the third year running, ahead of 14 other teams representing French universities and business schools.
5 students whose projects are hosted by the ESSEC Ventures incubator will compete in the World Cup in New York, October 10-12. They are: Alexandre Ponthier and Jean François Lemercier, of the “100 000 entrepreneurs” project (an on-line service aimed at secondary and tertiary education), and Solène Papavoine, Joséphine Damélincourt and Tatania Noack, for “TerraPi” and “Amor’Ethic” (sustainable development enterprises offering a range of Brazilian aromatherapy and herbal products, and promotional products and gift ideas respectively).
Other successful projects to have received awards include Tiiwi, a web-based search engine specializing in real estate that received the Oseo-Anvar 2007 national prize for start-ups, and Street Reporters, an on-line service enabling web users to become journalists, which was awarded the “Envie d’Agir” prize by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
