As reported in the previous issue of the International Newsletter, ESSEC received the report of the AACSB Peer Review Team that visited the campus and met with many representatives of the School on March 12-13 with a view to carrying out a comprehensive audit.
The findings of this report were positive in the extreme, with no fewer than 10 outstanding features (or “best practices”) identified. This compares very favorably with the average of 2/3 for most other schools which go through the audit process.
Following the communication of this report, ESSEC was proud to be able to confirm officially the successful maintenance of accreditation in July. In accordance with current AACSB policy, the accreditation is therefore renewed for a further 5 years.
The importance of this announcement and the commitment required of ESSEC Faculty and personnel in order to achieve the desired result is underlined by the AACSB’s own statement on their official website concerning accreditation:
AACSB International accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools, worldwide. Institutions that earn accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review. AACSB International accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in management education.
The maintenance of accreditation represents excellent represents excellent news for all, supporters and beneficiaries of ESSEC strategy alike.

Further good news came recently with the nomination of Professor Nicolas Mottis (Accounting and Management Control Department) as Chairman of the committee in charge of AACSB accreditation procedures. His tenure as Chairman of the Accreditation Quality Committee will last for two years and comes as due recognition of a long-standing association with the AACSB, which includes with the crucial role played in ESSEC’s first accreditation in 1997 and numerous participations in accreditation committee meetings and Peer Review Team audits.
