ESSEC has earned itself a reputation over the years as an innovator, especially for its skill in combining theoretical study with practical application. The apprenticeship (“apprentissage”, in French) system implemented at ESSEC in 1993 seized on the idea by developing a degree program alternating periods of in-company experience with coursework. This track is now officially open to international students as well.

The conditions and the benefits
International students aged under 26 and enrolled on a Master’s-level degree can now reap the benefits of a system that enables them, more than ever, to tailor their studies to their career trajectory. In addition to the valuable experience and skills that participants in the scheme can acquire, it also provides an initial stage in setting up an active professional network.
Increased job stability after graduation
On a wider scale, recent national reforms in France have improved employment opportunities further still for international graduates of ESSEC programs. Receipt of a diploma is now rewarded with an automatic 6-month visa, which is then extended indefinitely for all international graduates earning at least 1.5 times the minimum wage. The positive ramifications of these measures are already clear:
“The extension of the Apprentissage program to all nationalities will definitely provide a very interesting additional way of financing studies while gaining highly valuable professional experience. This will clearly contribute to making France a more desirable destination and help our recruitment efforts.” Bruno Héraud (Director of ESSEC’s International Recruitment Department)
The numerous terms, conditions and advantages (educational, professional and financial) of the system are available for consultation in a special section of ESSEC’s website.
