The sterling work of ESSEC’s Corporate/Student Relations Department has been very much in evidence recently. The months of October and February saw the hosting of the annual recruitment fairs Investment Banking Seminar and CAMPUS ESSEC respectively. On the basis of these two headline events, the demand for ESSEC students from the business world has rarely been as high.
11th year of the Investment Banking Seminar
The newly inaugurated “Dome” was the venue for the 11th edition of the Investment Banking Seminar on October 23. In attendance were 32 banks and financial institutions available for ESSEC students, with three main goals in mind:
- Presentation by each company of its principal activities:
- Discussion of future employment opportunities with ESSEC students;
- Explanation of the working environment and the differences between the various positions available within the company in question.
ESSEC Alumni now in employment in the participating companies were also on hand, as is now the tradition, to offer expert advice and guidance.
New to the financial recruitment fair this year were Bloomberg, Bryan Garnier, Deloitte, DTZ Asset Management, Landsbanki Kepler, Macquarie Bank, and Natixis.
CAMPUS ESSEC – crucial to student orientation
In February it was the turn of CAMPUS ESSEC, now into its 31st year. Of the 170 recruiting companies present, a significant number represented the Consulting and Industrial sectors. Attending students could also meet with major figures from the Consumer Goods, Agri-Food, Services, Distribution, Auditing and Banking professions, amongst others.
The 2008 edition of the Campus ESSEC recruitment forum
Each edition of CAMPUS ESSEC is organized on the back of detailed feedback from participants in the previous year’s salon. The 2007 edition met with extremely positive reactions, with 89% of companies expressing satisfaction with the outcome of the event. As regards the ESSEC students who take part, the importance of the event is vital, as noted by Maud Barthélémy (Head of Recruitment Partnerships for ESSEC’s Corporate/Student Relations Department):
“CAMPUS ESSEC provides a privileged moment during which ESSEC students and companies can meet. This is crucial for the orientation of our students and their subsequent integration into working life.”
The significance of such an event is underlined by the 67% of ESSEC MBA students who currently sign an employment contract prior to graduation. CAMPUS ESSEC and the Investment Banking Seminar continue to have a major impact on the ever-accelerating recruitment of future ESSEC graduates.
