Welcome to the Finance Department

The Finance department is hiring.

Research

One of the main roles of the Finance Department is the creation of knowledge via high-quality and original academic research. This objective is achieved in three ways – via the submission and publication of important articles in top academic journals, via Doctoral-level teaching and via the supervision of doctoral thesis projects.
Departmental research activity is a crucial guarantee of the excellent level of teaching offered. Research projects enable students to acquire a solid grounding by incorporating the most sophisticated developments in the relevant field and the latest methodological tools.

Research Seminars

The department organizes seminars on a regular basis, in collaboration with the ESSEC Research Center. Our guest speakers present, analyze, and discuss the most recent theoretical and empirical developments in Finance research.

You can find here information about the  current seminar list, as well as our archives of past years.

Teaching Activities

The Finance Department offers a wide range of courses in the following Programs:

The ESSEC MBA Grande École
The department offers twenty courses in Finance to more than 2,000 students each year.
In particular, the Department offers:

• The Finance Track is open to students who wish to specialise themselves in the Finance area and have successfully completed a selection of courses. The Finance Track is a mark of distinction reflecting the quality of Finance education offered at ESSEC.

• The Private Equity Chair proposes specialized coursework on Private Equity that mix regular lectures, case studies, meetings with the industry’s top professionals, a research project, and a simulation game where students play the role of a PE fund bidding in an auction.

Advanced Master's in Financial Techniques and Insurance and Finance

• The MSTF-AF Masters program (in French) has been operating for more than 15 years. Over 14 months of coursework including an internship, about 50 students prepare their career in the financial industry. Graduating alumni take jobs not only in the Paris financial community but also in the major financial capitals of the world.

• ESSEC has launched a new Financial Engineering Asia track to train international students in the domains of risk management and financial engineering. This program is partially based in ESSEC’s Singapore campus, where students can benefit from the exciting developments in the Finance area taking place in Asia.

The Finance Track of the ESSEC MBA program and the Specialized Masters MSTF-AF are partners of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute.

Private Equity Chair

The Private Equity Chair was created in November 2006 with the support of Barclays Private Equity, Grant Thornton and Linklaters.

Its purpose is to create knowledge on topics relevant to Private Equity, and to disseminate this knowledge by training future industry professionals.

At a time when the Private Equity industry is faced with calls for increased public scrutiny, the need for in-depth, informed knowledge about the benefits and possible challenges of the Private Equity model has never been more important.
