A two-track MBA program

The MBA in Hospitality Management offers an innovative two-track program designed to meet the needs of a rapidly changing industry and professionals on the move. While their format may be different, the content and goals of the two tracks and the degree they confer are the same. The one-year track is designed for professionals who already have experience in the hospitality industry and would benefit from a short and intensive program. The two-year track is aimed at inexperienced applicants seeking to further their knowledge while gaining additional professional experience during their program of study.

Program content

Coursework for the MBA in Hospitality Management is designed to be both academic and practical. All classes put great emphasis on studying the international hospitality industry.  In addition to the common core curriculum (hospitality accounting, service marketing, strategic marketing, information systems management, etc.), students select from five areas of concentration:

  • Luxury Services Management
  • e-Commerce
  • Real Estate and Development
  • Entrepreneurship
  • General Management Training

Near the end of the program, students complete a two-month, full-time field project, which offers them an opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge to a practical situation. Under the supervision of a professor and company manager, they work in teams, with members drawn from different areas of concentration.

Professional experience

Students in the two-year track can choose between two options for gaining professional experience:

  • Six-month internships: an ideal way for students to apply what they have learned in class and  to perfect their foreign language skills. Companies regularly offer internship opportunities to our MBA students, all of which are posted on our intranet site.
  • Apprenticeships: For two years, students under the age of 26 who are seeking their first real professional experience spend 50% of their time in class and 50% working for a company. The entire process is managed by the ESSEC Corporate Relations Office.
