"It was over thirty years ago that ESSEC decided that it should become a top-level institution for management research. Stiff targets were fixed and the means to achieve them created, notably via the recruitment of international-caliber research staff and the gradual introduction of an institutional culture that advocated research activity.
Our current performance in research compares very favorably with that of the best schools in Europe, if not the world. Research projects are conducted with the intention of forming new concepts and offering relevant solutions, thereby making a significant contribution to progress in management theory. The quality and quantity of the publications produced year after year and covering a variety of areas serve as proof of the maturity our institution has acquired in terms of research.
In real terms, the research support policy was implemented via the creation of a Research Center in 1973. This Center is also responsible for promoting professors’ research projects and managing relations with external research partners.
In addition, a number of Chairs and Institutes develop their research activity in collaboration with companies, contributing concrete case studies and, in return, benefiting from special access to results."
