The influence of ESSEC's ever-growing international network was again very much in evidence when the ESSEC Alumni Association had the honor of co-organizing the December 13 Dosokaļ meeting at the Maison de la Culture du Japon, Paris.
Symbolically, it was at this very same venue that ESSEC celebrated its partnership with Keļo University in June 2005.
Thanks in no small part to the behind-the-scenes work of Mr. Michel Boyer Chammard (Northern Asia coordinator of ESSEC International), the President of the venue, Mr. Masateru Nakagawa (a former student of Mitsui and also an alumnus of Keio University) invited ESSEC Alumni to participate in the running of the evening's proceedings.
This particular gathering (or "Bonnenkai", the term employed for the end-of-year edition) is held regularly and has been of great significance to the four meetings organized each year by the Dosokaļ club since 1995.
This club is as prestigious amongst the Franco-Japanese community as it is important for the continued influence of ESSEC's international alumni network. The occasion is ultimately festive but organized around a specific theme of cultural interest and seen as a vital opportunity to extend contacts amongst alumni.
The December 13 meeting was centered around an exhibition and conference examining ancient Japanese art, from the creative process through to its influence on French art nouveau, led by Iwao Nagasaki (former curator of the National Museum of Tokyo).
Particular thanks for helping engineer this meeting go to Mr. Boyer Chammard, Jean-Luc Decornoy (President of ESSEC Alumni) and Mr. Pierre Daban (President of ESSEC International).
