As reported in the previous issue of the International Newsletter, the AACSB Peer Review Team visited ESSEC on March 12-13, marking an important step towards potential maintenance of this prestigious accreditation.

An extremely rigorous and demanding audit was carried out, including lengthy meetings with representatives of Senior Management, the Faculty and the student body. Each member of the Review Team had already studied in great detail the self-evaluation report that an internal team coordinated by Marie-Laure Djelic (Dean of the Faculty) had prepared over the preceding months.
Based upon their reading of the report and their findings during their two-day visit, the Review Team then passed on a series of observations and recommendations to the Maintenance of Accreditation Committee.
Before ratification of the final decision by the AACSB Board, considerable feedback was given, including the identification of ESSEC’s main strengths or “best practices”. Considering that these, on average, are 2 or 3 in total in a report, ESSEC was especially proud to receive a list of 10. Amongst the main strong points were:
- student coaching,
- globalization, multiculturalism in the MBA Luxury Brand Management program,
- the flexibility of the ESSEC MBA program,
- student apprenticeships,
- the successful implementation of the fundraising campaign,
- and the current infrastructure and new buildings.
This list of points serves as confirmation of the recent achievements and collective effort of the school. Confirmation of the AACSB’s final decision will appear in the next issue of the International Newsletter. In the event of successful maintenance of accreditation, the next review would take place 5 years from now in 2012, in line with current AACSB policy.
