Bocciavenir

Just prior to its Centenary year, ESSEC signed an important agreement with the French Handisport Federation that served as further testimony to its commitment to socially responsible business projects.
The support, expertise and financial backing of 44 Executive MBA (Paris Weekend track) participants have made it possible for the Bocciavenir organization to mount a national-scale operation designed to promote sport for people with physical disabilities.

“Boccia” is a sport that can be played by people with even the most serious of physical handicaps, individually or in teams of up to 3 people.
Via the fund-raising activities of the class of Executive MBA participants, the organization will be able to spread its activity nationwide and has also set itself the goal of mounting a National Boccia Team with a view to competing at European and world levels.

This kind of initiative, coupled with the 4-day awareness campaign Handimove organized as part of ESSEC’s Centenary celebrations and held on the Cergy campus, underlines the importance of Humanism within ESSEC’s five founding values.
Pierre Tapie (Dean & President of ESSEC) made precisely this point upon signing the agreement with the French Handisport Federation in December.

ESSEC will continue to show strong support for this project in its role as communications partner of the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and in backing the French National Team in view of the 2012 games in London.
