ESSEC TalkEverything you always wanted to know about ESSEC
- Talk with Joel via :
As a short introduction, my name is Joel and I'm a PhD candidate at ESSEC. I'm from Toronto, Canada, although I've lived in a variety of other countries, including the UK, Saudi Arabia and India (and now France!).
Before joining ESSEC, I worked for two years at Jardine Lloyd Thompson (a commercial insurance brokerage). Prior to that, I completed my bachelors degree at York University, majoring in business administration with a minor in finance. I also recently received an ESSEC masters in business administration research.
My primary research interest involves the diffusion of sustainability, using urban planning as an empirical setting. I'm also involved in two other research projects related to social entrepreneurship and moral hazard. Additionally, I'm an external consultant for the VIRGO greening initiative for the city of Victoria, B.C.
Following completion of my dissertation, I intend to pursue a research position within a management department at either a Canadian or European institution. The goal is to use urban planning to advance research of management, however I also intend to use management principles to address societal problems like urban sprawl, pollution and social polarization.
