On March 25, 2025, ESSEC Business School’s Asia-Pacific campus hosted French Minister Delegate for Europe, Jean-Noël Barrot, and H.E. Stephen Marchisio, Ambassador of France to Singapore, for a high-level conference on “International Crises: Impacts on the Indo-Pacific Region and Europe.”
Held in partnership with the French Embassy in Singapore, the event brought together ESSEC BBA students, faculty members, and academic guests from institutions such as the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.

Following opening remarks by Deputy Dean Reetika Gupta, Minister Barrot outlined the key priorities of France’s Indo-Pacific strategy, including security, economic resilience, multilateral cooperation, and environmental sustainability. He then participated in a dynamic Q&A session, addressing student questions about geopolitical tensions, global trade rivalries, and the influence of artificial intelligence on public policy.
This conference is part of ESSEC’s broader strategic shift to address major global transformations. In October 2024, the school launched the Institute for Geopolitics & Business, a new interdisciplinary initiative to explore the intersections of geopolitics and business. With activities across all ESSEC campuses: Paris-Cergy, Paris-La Défense, Singapore, and Rabat the center equips students and executives with analytical tools and actionable insights to understand and manage geopolitical shifts affecting organizations.

Located in the heart of Nepal Hill in Singapore’s innovation district of one-north—often dubbed the city-state’s “Silicon Valley” ESSEC Asia-Pacific embodies the school’s commitment to global relevance and innovation. Founded in 2005, it was the first international campus of the school. Every year, it welcomes around 950 students from 46 countries and offers a unique learning ecosystem shaped by partnerships with leading companies such as P&G, Ubisoft, and Canon.
This conference highlights ESSEC’s commitment to positioning its Singapore campus as a hub for intellectual and geopolitical dialogue, fostering education that actively engages with global challenges.
