
Why did you join the EMiLUX program?
Jason: I decided to join the EMiLUX program because I see it as the perfect platform to pivot my career into the luxury industry, which I’m incredibly passionate about. The program aligns with my vision of evolving my brand beyond products into immersive, eco-conscious experiences that resonate with today’s discerning consumer.
Shefali: I firmly believe innovation blossoms beyond comfort zones; EMiLUX is my platform to challenge norms and forge new paths. For me, it's about redefining boundaries and shaping the future of luxury.
How has your EMiLUX experience been so far?
Jason: So far, my experience in the EMiLUX program has been nothing short of transformative. It’s been eye-opening – intellectually stimulating, hands-on, and rich in networking. The strategic learning and industry exposure provide the foundation I need to pivot into luxury. The collaboration with my peers, mentors, and faculty members has also been a highlight, and just as impactful as the coursework.
Shefali: The program has exceeded my expectations. Key highlights include industry insights from luxury leaders, immersive global experiences, and collaborative growth with a diverse cohort. It’s fueled my passion for meaningful luxury solutions.

What stood out in the Paris residency?
Jason: What resonated with me most was the way the lectures emphasized the importance of balancing tradition with innovation in luxury. Additionally, the immersive learning environment fostered by the La Défense Campus was invaluable. We explored business models, decision-making, and the delicate balance between heritage and innovation in luxury. The diverse perspectives from my peers made the experience even richer.
Shefali: The Paris module blended academic depth with hands-on learning. Visiting Taittinger’s Champagne caves was a highlight – it gave me a tangible understanding of craftsmanship and tradition. The dynamic discussions with industry leaders were equally inspiring.
What made the New York residency unique?
Jason: The deep dive into innovation, data, and purpose-driven design was fascinating. Learning how luxury brands integrate AI and big data to enhance customer experiences reshaped my perspective on the industry’s future. As someone who strongly values sustainability, John Bartlett’s lecture on how brands not only sell a product but can also make an impact expounding their values alongside profit while addressing broader environmental concerns – has left an indelible impression on me.
Shefali: As a Parsons applicant, I found the fashion-focused elements particularly enriching for my future startup. Engaging with designers and fashion historians offered invaluable insights into the creative and business sides of the industry.
Most memorable company visits?
Jason: One of my favorite visits was to Sabyasachi, a rising Indian luxury brand that has truly won me over. I especially appreciated their commitment to heritage and authenticity, which deeply resonated with my own aspirations to create a brand that celebrates craftsmanship and values sustainability. The visit to Vera Wang with Keith Lissner, Creative Director and Fashion Designer, was equally inspiring, offering a firsthand look at storytelling in luxury branding.
Shefali: Sabyasachi resonated with me as an Indian appreciating its global influence. I also rediscovered a deep admiration for Ralph Lauren’s timeless appeal.
