Harvard Global Case Study Competition: meet the new ESSEC Global MBA team

The Harvard Global Case Study Competition is an annual event where teams from around the world compete to solve a business case study developed by Harvard Business School faculty.

The competition provides an opportunity for participants to showcase their critical thinking, problem-solving, and presentation skills, as they provide solution containing recommendations based on a detailed study of the situation. The competition is also an opportunity to network with peers and business leaders.

This unique student-led opportunity connects students at several business schools from around the world with the smartest minds across the domains of business, economics, and finance. 

This year’s ESSEC Business School team made up of participants from the Global MBA program is ready to enter the competition. Let’s meet this year’s brilliant team players!

Shobhan Mishra

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

I am 28 years old and prior to joining ESSEC Business School for the Global MBA Program, I was specialized in Credit Risk Management, Risk Consulting, and Sustainability Analysis across multinational organizations such as Deutsche Bank and KPMG.

Over the last 7 years, I have also actively worked towards human and sustainable development that has provided me with an opportunity to train and mentor kids in several nations around the world. Consequently, my diverse set of skills and experiences have led me to represent India at several global platforms such as the United Nations Youth Assembly at the UN HQ in New York, World Youth Summit in Dubai, Global Diplomats Forum in London, to name a few.

Why did you want to be part of it as a current GMBA participant?

This opportunity will fine-tune my understanding of complex business situations in an ever-changing, multi-faceted business environment.

What do you hope to get out of it? 

Traveling to Harvard and presenting a distinct well-rounded business solution to a panel of experts will not only help me cultivate a powerful network but also aid in the creation of significant business value in the process.

Tanisha Pandey

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

I am a highly accomplished engineer and business professional with extensive expertise in product design, sustainable energy, and fundraising. I also hold a post-graduate degree in Engineering. My career highlights include serving as a Senior Product Design Engineer at John Deere, where I managed cross-functional teams across several continents to drive successful outcomes. As an Engagement Manager and Consultant for the Renewable and Sustainable Energy sector at Impact Consulting, I provided technical support and led a team of six consultants in a sustainable fundraising project that raised $6 million. In addition to my professional achievements, I am a dedicated volunteer who has published six research papers in renowned international journals.

Why did you want to be part of it as a current GMBA participant?

It was a natural choice for me as a current GMBA participant. It presents a unique opportunity to apply my business knowledge and skills to real-world challenges while collaborating with a diverse team of individuals from various cultures and backgrounds. I strongly believe that this experience will enhance my personal and professional growth by honing my critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities. Furthermore, the competition's global reach and prestige provide an excellent platform to showcase my skills and build my network, which is crucial for my future career goals. 

What do you hope to get out of it?

Firstly, I hope to develop my problem-solving and critical thinking skills, as well as my ability to work collaboratively with a team. Secondly, I hope to learn from my peers and judges, who are experts in their respective fields, and gain insights into the latest business trends and practices. Finally, I hope to build my network and establish relationships with other participants, judges, and business leaders that will be valuable to my future career aspirations.

Anthony Nacouzy

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

I have a background in computer engineering, originally from Lebanon I have 4 years of experience as a consultant in payment technologies with banks in Saudi Arabia. 

Why did you want to be part of it as a current GMBA participant?

I wanted to get hands-on experience in solving a real-life PE/M&A business case, as it involves many of the business concepts acquired during the MBA and complements my interest in strategy consulting 

What do you hope to get out of it? 

I hope to extract valuable learnings in strategy consulting and benefit from this prestigious experience in my near future career path.

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself? 

I am from Vietnam and currently MBA participant specialized in Strategy and Digital Leadership. With the MBA, I hope to leverage my 4 years of professional experience in the financial services and investment field

Why did you want to be part of it as a current GMBA participant?

This competition presents an excellent opportunity for me to challenge my capabilities, apply my newly acquired specialized skills in the Global MBA, and utilize my 4 years of professional experience in the financial services and investment field to a real-world business case.

What do you hope to get out of it? 

I hope to gain exposure to a diverse group of peers from around the world and build valuable connections and relationships. Finally, I see the competition as an opportunity to showcase my skills and achievements to potential employers, which could lead to exciting career opportunities in the future.

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself? 

I am Rishabh Jetly from New Delhi India. I have 6+ years of experience in the fashion industry and I co-founded NOCHEÉ VIDA, a successful women's resort wear and loungewear brand. My work approach is centered around data-driven analysis and top down strategy. With strong leadership abilities, entrepreneurial skills, and a talent for crafting effective business strategies. I am confident that my extensive experience and diverse skill set would be a valuable addition to the team.

Why did you want to be part of it as a current GMBA participant?

As a current GMBA participant, I am eager to learn from my peers. This is a unique opportunity for me to push my limits, display my expertise, gain valuable experience in dissecting intricate business challenges, build connections with like-minded professionals, and possibly attain recognition for work and elevate my skill set to new heights.

What do you hope to get out of it? 

It presents an exceptional opportunity for me to broaden my understanding of global business issues by gaining exposure to different perspectives and ways of thinking. I believe this experience will help me develop a more comprehensive approach to problem solving, allowing me to tackle complex challenges with a more nuanced understanding of the issues at hand. Moreover, the competition offers a chance to connect with industry peers and potential employers/collaborators, leading to valuable career opportunities and partnerships for my future growth.
