With 34 years of experience in hospitality management, ESSEC offers a unique experience with the renowned MSc in Hospitality Management (IMHI). Originally named Institut de Management Hôtelier International (IMHI), the program was initially created in 1981 as a joint venture between Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and Essec Business School, a partnership that lasted for 25 years.

Live and learn in France and the US

Taking place near Paris, the program gives you the opportunity to study and work in the United States. IMHI students can choose to study in Boston and complete an internship in the US to receive a graduate certificate from Boston University School of Hospitality Administration (SHA).

Established since 1981, Boston University's School of Hospitality Administration (BU SHA) offers students a combination of rigorous academics, liberal arts curriculum, and international experiences for the pursuit of success in lodging, restaurants, food service, and other avenues of the hospitality industry.

Through our unique collaboration with Boston University’s School of Hospitality Administration (BU SHA), graduate students enrolled through our IMHI program have the opportunity to earn part of their Master’s degree abroad – an opportunity which involves elective courses taught by premier internationally-recognized industry practitioners.



In Detail :


• Participants have the option of earning part of their Master’s degree abroad through Boston University’s School of Hospitality Administration (BU SHA) or on campus, in Cergy, France.


• Courses are taught in English, but a working level of French is recommended for participants looking to complete their internship in France.


• Participants interested in completing an internship in Boston benefit from an extensive network of partner hotels and restaurants, providing students with numerous opportunities to satisfy work experience requirements for their degree.


• Completion of this portion of the program earns students a Graduate certificate from Boston University’s School of Hospitality Administration (BU SHA).

ESSEC’s World Class International Faculty

You will have the privilege of being taught by ESSEC’s world renowned faculty which is comprised of more than 135 individuals, representing 35 nationalities and from the world’s most prestigious institutions.

You will also have the opportunity to regularly participate in classes and seminars led by experts internationally recognized in different fields of hospitality for their research interests and teaching specializations as well as senior executives from partner companies.

Networking Opportunities

You will meet and talk with senior executives and industry leaders from international hospitality companies. Throughout the year, ESSEC organizes events such as Industry Leader Conferences and debates/discussions in which senior executives and industry leaders participate in.

IMHI Student Associations

IMHI Traiteur
Since 1999, the IMHI Traiteur Association has gathered several generations of students from the MSc in Hospitality Management (IMHI) around a shared passion: cooking and quality of service. Buffets, Cocktails, Dinners, "Journées Portes  Ouvertes".... 
Above all, IMHI Traiteur is your partner for having the best culinary time at a cheaper price than a regular "traiteur".

Junior IMHI
A consulting organization made up of students from the MSc in Hospitality Management program, Junior IMHI provides services in areas such as Operational Management and Marketing & Business Strategy to companies in the hotel and tourism industry.

THE LAB

Managed and operated by students from the MSc in Hospitality Management program, “The LAB”  has been offering fresh and fast food solutions on campus for 10 years now. This association helps the program students get along, enjoy their time, and cook together, as well as provide ESSEC students with an amazing feast during lunchtime.
